Before you decide if hypnotherapy is right for you and if I am the right therapist for you, I would like to offer you a free discovery call on the phone or online via Zoom.
This 15-20 minute session will be an opportunity to learn a little bit about each other. You will be able to tell me how I can help you and ask me any questions you have.
If you decide that you want to book a programme of hypnotherapy, I will send you a consultation form to complete. Once this is received, I will offer you a start date and invite you to make a payment for the programme before the start date.
The first session is the longest (about 90 minutes). It involves finding out more about you, including what issues you want to work on and what goals you want to achieve.
I will also talk in more detail about how the mind works, what is hypnotherapy and how hypnotherapy works, to help you get the most from the sessions.
And finally, it will involve some lovely, gentle guided relaxation to introduce you to hypnosis.
The follow-on sessions will vary depending on the issues you want to work on but they will include:
Gentle relaxation techniques - to guide you into hypnosis (similar to a guided meditation).
Suggestion therapy - positive suggestions are made to the sub-conscious mind (which you can choose to accept or reject) to help you change unhelpful beliefs.
Creative visualisation therapy - makes use of your imagination and all of your senses, to help increase your awareness, gain understanding and prepare your mind for future change.
Dynamic therapy - working directly with your subconscious mind to understand why something is a problem, find out where it came from and identify what changes would help. This dynamic approach makes use of a range of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) tools and techniques including reframing, timelines, anchoring, inner child and hypno-healing.
You will be given a weekly audio to listen to in between the sessions. These are really important because they are individualised to you and they support the work done in the hypnotherapy sessions. They are also great for helping you feel calm and relaxed. Additional support is also available between sessions if you need it.
Treatment programmes vary in length, but most require between 6 and 8 sessions. The programme will be tailored for you; if additional sessions are needed, this will be discussed and agreed with you.
The sessions will be planned to meet your individual needs and we will work together at a pace that suits you. Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes, but please allow up to 90 minutes. You will be in hypnosis for between 30-45 minutes.
We will start each session with a conversation about how you have been since the last session and at the end there will be the opportunity for reflection, feedback and questions. These conversations are important as they help you to reflect on your progress and enable me to make adjustments to your programme so that you gain maximum benefit from the therapy.
